Angela Rebrec and Steven Kirby-Schwartz bring together photography, writing, visual storytelling, and a shared curiosity for beauty found in everyday life. Their work moves between observation and imagination, capturing quiet moments, overlooked details, and the stories that linger just beneath the surface.
Together, they shape Crow & Quill Studios as a place for fine art, photography, handcrafted pieces, and curious treasures made with care, mischief, and meaning.
A multi-genre artist, photographer, writer, and arts organizer dedicated to building vibrant, inclusive spaces for creativity and connection. In 2021, Angela Rebrec founded the Delta Literary Arts Society on the ancestral lands of the Tsawwassen, Musqueam, and Kwantlen peoples to help create accessible opportunities for writers and artists of all backgrounds and abilities.
Her creative practice spans poetry, photography, film, mixed media, and collaborative arts. Across disciplines, Angela’s work explores themes of voice, witness, finding meaning in ordinary details and overlooked moments.
Working with photography, mixed media, and found objects, Angela creates pieces that give voice to experiences that are often unseen or unheard. Her work is shaped by a belief that art can reveal quiet truths and create moments of recognition between people.
Angela’s writing has appeared in journals and anthologies including EVENT, Vallum, The Dalhousie Review, and The Antigonish Review. She is the recipient of Pulp Literature’s 2024 Magpie Award for Poetry .
Her poetry films have been recognized internationally, including by the Filmmaker Life Awards, Barcelona International Film Festival, and Santa Barbara International ShortFest.
Angela holds a BA from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with studies in creative writing and is a graduate of Simon Fraser University’s The Writer’s Studio.
Angela frequently partners with composers, visual artists, and writers to create work rooted in shared experience. She believes the most meaningful art—and the best of ourselves—emerges through collaboration.
Angela Rebrec
Formerly a photojournalist with the Associated Press, Steven Kirby-Schwartz’s work is grounded in the art of visual storytelling. He studied journalism at Columbia University and earned an MFA in Photography from New York University.
His photography has appeared in newspapers and publications around the world, including Newsweek, The Atlantic, Condé Nast, and Cigar Aficionado. Steven has also worked extensively in commercial and editorial photography for clients including Air Canada, Patagonia, La Senza, Air France, and ECKO UNLTD.
Now working from his Vancouver-based studio on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, Steven brings decades of experience to creating thoughtful, evocative imagery.
Specializing in environmental portraiture and editorial photography, his approach combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to revealing the humanity of his subjects. Whether photographing people, places, events, or landscapes, Steven sees photography as a timeless form of storytelling—one that captures not only what is seen, but what is felt.
Steven has also led workshops exploring media ethics and propaganda in the social media age, drawing from his background in journalism and visual communication.
Outside of commissioned work, his personal photographic practice explores the energy and spontaneity of street photography alongside a long-standing fascination with the intelligence and character of crows—subjects that offer a compelling counterpoint to the intentionality of studio work.
